Women's basketball takes five point win at Hannibal-La Grange

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The women's basketball team began their journey toward a repeat visit to the NCAA national tournament with a 74-69 win at Hannibal-La Grange on Tuesday night.  Greenville got double-figure scoring output from four of its five starters as Laura Goodnight led the team with 20 points.

The Lady Panthers opened a 24-17 lead after one quarter and entered halftime knotted in a 40-40 game.  Greenvllle made the score 53-52 after the third quarter before pushing the lead to five at the conclusion of the contest.

Wesleyan Woodard finished behind Goodnight in offensive production with 15 points.  Guards Claire Schmitt and Taylor Paulin added 12 and 10 points, respectively.  Schmitt passed out eight assists.

Kelly Lenz was Greenville's top rebounder with 11 caroms.  Both Woodard and Paulin came away with two steals.

The Lady Panthers (1-0) travel to Millikin on Friday to play Elmhurst before a Saturday showdown with the host Millikin.
