Westminster Women's Soccer Bows Out of SLIAC Tournament

ST. LOUIS - Westminster women's soccer ends its season with a 2-1 loss to No. 1 Webster in the semifinals of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Blue Jays end their season with a 10-7 record.

"This game was a great first-half battle," said Westminster Head Coach Jen Dyson. "The play was very back-and-forth and the whole game was full of battles all over the field. Ultimately they found a way to capitalize on our missed chances. I could not be more proud of this team and the effort they put forth and how they went forward together."

The Gorloks scored the first goal in the 32nd minute, but Westminster quickly answered just seven minutes later with a goal from Gracie Koonce on a ball from Paige Townsend

The teams went into the second half tied at 1-1, but in the 50th minute, Webster scored what would be the game-winning goal.

A strong Gorlok defense held Westminster to just six shots the entire match from six different players.

Sarah Cradick played all 90 minutes in goal, making five saves.

"This has been a very special group this year," said Dyson of the team's season. "These 16 women have overcome numerous obstacles and battled together all season. The women who came through the program have set the standards high, and this group pushed them higher yet."
