The Basics
Set 1: The Gorloks opened with a 10-4 lead on Gabi Saldana's kill forcing Fontbonne to take a timeout. Trailing 14-9, the Griffins railed with a 5-0 run with consecutive attack errors by Webster tying it up at 14-14.
After a timeout by Webster, the Gorloks responded with a 5-0 run totaling four kills during that stretch leading 19-14. That advantage proved to be enough in the opener with Webster going on for the 25-19 win on Saldana's kill.
Set 2: It was back-and-forth play early but kills from Kaylee Portell, Mary Nelson, and Lauren Borik gave Webster the 14-9 lead. They expanded its lead out to 20-14 and collected the final four points of the set with a double block from Julia Frey and Borik securing the 25-16 victory.
Set 3: In the third, a kill from Kristen Kaempfe had the Griffins down 8-7. Webster expanded its advantage out to 15-9 on two kills from Borik and another from Nelson. From there, the Gorloks closed out the set on a 10-2 run for the 25-11 match win.
