Women's tennis drops four matches in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The women's tennis team won several of their individual matches, but the team collectively lost all four matches during their spring break trip to South Carolina.

Monday, March 13

Vs. Lake Forest

The Panthers fell behind 3-0 after the three doubles matches and then won half of the singles matches in Monday's 6-3 loss to Lake Forest.

In singles, No. 2 Addison Brannon went to a third set tiebreaker and won 3-6, 6-2, 10-7.

No. 5 Natalia Higashi took a 6-2, 6-2 win, and No. 6 Emily Buratovich finished with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Vs. Bethel (Minn.)

The Panthers dropped Monday's second match 9-0 against Bethel.

GU dropped their three doubles matches and all six singles contest.

In singles, No. 2 Brannon went to a third set tiebreak before falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.

No. 6 Buratovich challenged her opponent and dropped the match 6-2, 7-5.

Tuesday, March 14

Vs. Carroll (Wis.)

The Panthers had a repeat of Monday's performance in Tuesday's match against Carroll (WI). GU lost all three doubles matches and then bounced back to win three of the six singles matches.

In singles, No. 1 Mireia Birosta won in a third set tiebreak 6-4, 2-6, 13-11, and No. Higashi earned a 6-4, 6-4 win.

No. 5 Buratovich dominated her opponent in a 6-0, 6-1 drubbing.

No. 2 Callie Adkins went to a third set tiebreak in her match before losing 6-2, 5-7. 10-8.

Thursday, March 16

Vs. Concordia Wisconsin

The Panthers concluded their spring break trip with a 7-2 loss to Concordia Wisconsin.

GU earned two wins in the match - No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles.

The No. 2 doubles team of Adkins and Higashi finished with a 8-4 win.

No. 6 Buratovich won her third singles match of the week with a 6-2, 6-4 decision.

The Panthers had two singles players, No. 2 Brannon and No. 5 Higashi, force third set tiebreakers in a loss.

The Panthers (3-10) will continue their season on March 29 at Millikin.
