FULTON, Mo. Earning an important conference victory on Saturday, the Blue Jays easily handled the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers with a 5-0 victory.

Improving to 7-3-1 overall (3-1-1 in the SLIAC), the Blue Jays had a solid win against the Tigers, who fall to 3-11-1 (0-4 in the SLIAC).

Head Coach Adam Galla talked to his players before the match about "playing hard for 90 minutes and keeping a shutout." The message must have clicked for the Blue Jays because that is exactly what they did.

Drew Cook got the Blue Jays off to a fast start with a breakaway goal after only a minute of play. Then about halfway through the first half, Dustin Seibolt headed in a beautiful cross from Patrick Bromstedt to increase the lead to 2-0.

Shortly after that, Drake Trease got in on the action and found the back of the net from the right side of the box.

The 3-0 halftime lead for the Blue Jays was more than enough for goalie Ben Chesher, who only needed to make one save the entire game to preserve the shutout.

In the second half, the offense continued. Drew Cook added a goal to his total with a nice assist from David Immanuel. Immanuel then later added a goal of his own with the assist coming from Eli Sherman.

Outshooting the Tigers by a whopping 30-1 ratio, the Blue Jays definitely played hard, just like coach had told them.

"All in all, it was a good performance and a step in the right direction," happily exclaimed Coach Galla, as the Blue Jays were able to keep pace with the three teams ahead of them in the SLIAC standings.

Next week, the Blue Jays have a non-conference match against Illinois College at 7p.m. on October 20th.
