Women's volleyball controls Westminster in SLIAC opener

GREENVILLE, Ill. - In the first SLIAC match of the 2021 fall season, the women's volleyball team competed against Westminster, the same team it last met in the championship match of the 2021 spring SLIAC tournament. The result of this matchup was no different, and Greenville rolled to a three set win.

After a close 25-23 opening set win, Greenville settled down in set two, taking a 25-20 victory before assuming complete control in a dominating 25-8 final set.

In the third set, Greenville recorded 10 kills and two errors in 20 attempts, hitting at a .400 clip. They advanced from a 17-9-48-.167 initial set and improved to 12-6-35-.171 in the second set prior to their outstanding final set.

Match leaders included Jasmin Smith who collected 12.5 points for Greenville with 11 kills and one block assist. She attempted 32 attacks and had three errors, posting a .250 kill percentage.

Sacorra Patton tied Smith with 12.5 points. Patton tallied nine kills and three errors in 20 attacks, ending with a hitting rate of .300. She also added three service aces and one block assist.

Patton managed to complete a double-double in the match with 11 digs. Greenville was led in digs by Chasity Hill with 21.

GU's set assist leader was Jordan Lempa with 31. Lempa also snuck in four kills on her final scoresheet.

The Panthers were led at the next by middles Emily Stahl and Anna Finch. Stahl provided one solo block and three block assists while Finch produced two solo blocks and one block assist.

The Panthers (4-1, 1-0 SLIAC) travel to Millikin for a tournament on Friday and Saturday.
