Women's soccer moves to semifinals with 1-0 OT win over Principia

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team received an overtime goal from Samantha De La Cruz to collect a win over Principia on Tuesday and advance to a semifinal match with Webster on Thursday in the SLIAC tournament.

Greenville controlled play on Tuesday night, outshooting Principia 9-3 in the first half, 12-3 in the second half, and 4-0 in overtime for a 25-6 overall total.

De La Cruz, who posted the match-winning goal after a perfect feed from Taylor Howard, led Greenville with 10 shots in the match.

Molly McDonnell also looked sharp in the postseason contest, totaling six shots in the match.

Goalkeeper Grace Gehner faced limited pressure from Principia, but she still managed to compile four saves in the shutout.

The Panthers (11-7) travel to Soccer Park on Thursday night for their match against Webster.
