ST. ANN, Mo. -- The softball team avenged an earlier season doubleheader sweep by Westminster as they clinched an appearance in the SLIAC championship game for the fourth straight season with a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers had to play catch up as they allowed Westminster to gain a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Greenville used an RBI single from Tiffany Samsoe in the top of the second to tie the game, and they grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth with Samsoe's RBI triple.

Greenville expanded the lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly from Becca Oldham in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Blue Jays rallied.  The first two batters reached base before starting pitcher Caitie Opp was relieved by Brianna Anderson.  Westminster immediately hit into a fielder's choice with the runner forced out at third base.  The next hitter singled to plate a run, but Anderson retired the next two for the win.

Opp gained the win with six innings pitched.  She improved to 5-4 by only allowing two runs.  She struck out three, walked three, and allowed four hits.

Anderson got her second save with just the hit as the blemish.

The Lady Panthers (23-15) will play Webster at 10 a.m. on Sunday for the automatic bid in the NCAA tournament that goes to the SLIAC tournament champion.
