Westminster Men's Soccer Falls in Final Minutes to McMurry

Westminster men's soccer played a scoreless game against McMurry until the final three minutes of the game, losing 1-0.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-2-1 with the loss.

"This was a disappointing result here today," said Head Coach Adam Galla. "We struggled to maintain defensive shape and keep a tempo in possession. At the end of the day it came down to the fact that they wanted it a little more than us."

Both teams were strong defensively, with a scoreless game until the 88th minute when McMurry netted a ball after a one-on-one chance from 10 yards out.

Raul Belman played all 90 minutes in goal and made six saves until the final goal.

Mauricio Mateo led the team offensively, tallying three shots. Cade Rowlette, Brandon Rettke, and Daniel Barone each notched two shots.

"We are still finding out identity but I'm confident that we'll get there by the start of conference play," said Galla.

Westminster returns home for back-to-back weekend contests Friday and Saturday against Simpson and Central.
