Women's Soccer Shuts Out Lakeland 9-0

The Westminster women's soccer team ended their second game of the season with a 9-0 shutout over Lakeland College on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays hold a 2-0 record on the season. 

The Blue Jays scored four goals in the first half with the first two coming from freshman Courtney Whitlock. Freshman Gracie Koonce had the assist on the first goal and senior Eileen Koppy had the second goal's assist. 

In the 31st minute, senior Tayisah Pohtos scored her first goal of the season with the assists from sophomore Payton Beeler and Whitlock.

Sophomore Morgan Henry scored the last goal of the half and the first goal of the second half to take the 5-0 lead. Freshman Heidi Gundy assisted the second goal.

Koppy scored in the 56th minute with the assist from Gundy, and Koonce scored in the 68th minute with the assist from senior Erin DeVasto

Beeler scored the second to last goal of the game with the assist from DeVasto, and sophomore Adrienne Ebersole sealed the 9-0 victory in the 83rd minute with Whitlock's assist.

Junior goalkeeper Ellen Woolsey moved her season record to 2-0 after the victory. She had one save. Freshman Ali Perry closed out the game in goal.
