MONMOUTH, Ill. – Eureka dropped an 81-54 non-conference decision to Monmouth, Tuesday night at Glennie Gymnasium in Monmouth, Ill.
Three Red Devils scored in double figures, including 14 from Kennedy Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.). She also led the Red Devils with seven rebounds and distributed a game-high six assists. Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) tallied 13 points and Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) scored 12. EC shot 31 percent from the floor and went 4-for-16 from 3-point range.
Carley Turnbull scored a game-high 23 points for the Fighting Scots. MC connected on 10 3-pointers and outrebounded the Red Devils 46-34.
Eureka trailed Monmouth 19-17 after one period but fell behind 36-25 at halftime. The hosts pulled away shortly after halftime thanks to a 28-point third quarter.
St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play begins for the Red Devils next Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at reigning league champion Greenville.
