Westminster Men's Soccer Wins Third Straight

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Westminster men's soccer won its third straight match with a 3-1 victory over Central.

The Blue Jays improve to 4-1 while the Dutch falls to 4-2.

"We had a great win here today," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "Even though our touches were a little off today, our effort was phenomenal. We did a great job of finishing the opportunities we created."

Westminster scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute on a shot from Eli Sherman, which marked the senior's second goal of the year.

The offense from either team remained stagnant going into the half and up until Westminster scored its second goal in the 79th minute of the match. This time, it was Drake Trease who found the back of the net.

In the 86th minute, the Dutch attempted to make a comeback by netting a goal of its own to make the score  2-1, but a minute later Dustin Seibolt sealed his team's fate with a goal on a pass from Kyle Collins to finish the game 3-1.

"Our nonconference schedule has given us the opportunity to iron out some of the details within our style of play," saod Galla. "We've played some really good teams that have battled extremely hard."

Westminster outshot Central 14-13, including five shots from Daniel Barone

The Bue Jays return home to face Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup.

"We have another great opportunity on Friday against an NCAA Division III powerhouse in Wisconsin-Whitewater," said Galla. "I know that our guys will rise to occasion and that we'll fully be prepared come our conference season."
