Women's soccer shuts out Westminster to move to 2-0 in SLIAC

FULTON, Mo. - The women's soccer team managed to win their second straight SLIAC match with a 1-0 shutout win over Westminster on Saturday night.

After a scoreless opening half, Greenville's Jen De Leon De Leon scored her third goal of the season in the 53rd minute of the match, and it proved to be the difference in GU's victory.

Overall, Greenville featured an attack that outshot Westminster 15-5, with a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.

De Leon De Leon and Vanessa Ramirez challenged the Blue Jays repeatedly, each offering four shots in the match.

Ramirez had three shots on goal, and De Leon De Leon and Kiera Coleman each added two shots on goal.

For the second straight match, goalkeeper Grace Gehner kept a clean sheet, her second in as many SLIAC matches, with two saves and the shutout.

The Panthers (2-3, 2-0 SLIAC) will next play at Eureka on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m.
