Women's basketball earns 92-71 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. -- The women's basketball team led from start to finish as they earned a 92-71 victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods in their first of two games this weekend.

Greenville led 21-16 after one quarter and extended the lead to 44-29 at halftime.  A third quarter effort saw the Panthers outscore the Pomeroys 31-16 before St. Mary-of-the-Woods tightened the score in the fourth quarter.

Morgan St. James nearly produced a double-double for Greenville with 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Wesley Woodard managed to reach double figures in points and rebounds with 13 points and 10 boards.

Guards Megan Barrett and Maria Reinhard also scored at least 10 points.  Barrett posted 12 points, and Reinhard had 10.

Brittany Lopez was at the top of her game defensively with six steals and provided her teammates with three assists.

Greenville made 47 percent of its field goal attempts, and their defense limited the Pomeroys to a 27 percent field goal mark.

The Panthers (6-2) face Robert Morris Springfield at Noon on Saturday.
