Blue Jays Sweep Fontbonne, 9-0

The Westminster men's tennis team grabbed their first conference win with a 9-0 sweep over Fontbonne University Sunday afternoon. The win puts the Blue Jays at 1-2 in conference play and 2-8 on the season.

Sophomore Scott Strough, senior Kody Renner and sophomore Grant Peterson all swept their opponents with 6-0 scores across the board. Junior Kyle Collins went to a third set in the one spot, but pulled out the win with the scores 6-2, 4-6 and 1-0 (10-6). 

Freshmen Adam Fuchs and Peter Hasenmueller won the remaining two points in singles play by default in the fifth and sixth spot. 

On the doubles side, Collins and Strough won in the one spot, 8-5. Fuchs and Hasenmueller swept Fontbonne in the second spot, 8-0, and Peterson and Renner won by default in the three spot.

The Blue Jays round out their regular season on Wednesday at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. The final conference game will start at 3:00 p.m.
