Men's basketball wins seventh of last eight games in victory at MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team earned a 126-118 win at MacMurray on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers received 29 points from Eric Williams.

Williams knocked down 12-of-19 shots, including 4-of-7 three-pointers to reach a career high point total and lead Greenville to the win.

Marvin Bateman added 26 points and managed to make 8-of-10 three-pointers.

The Panthers suffocating defense produced 36 turnovers by the Highlanders and led to 22 steals.  Johari Dix and Kodi Badger each came up with four steals.  Dix also added six assists.

Greenville never trailed in the game as they saw their lead reach 20 points at 46-26 with 7:09 to go in the first quarter.

MacMurray cut GU's lead to four points late in the second half, but they could not reduce the deficit further.

The Panthers (7-4, 4-0 SLIAC) have won seven of their last eight games and they return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Fontbonne.
