CARLINVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss against Blackburn on Wednesday afternoon.
Game Breakdown
It was a scoreless game up until the 13th minute when Zibo Siamsipa dribbled down the right side of the box and passed it over to an open Hayden Reese who buried his shot into the net giving Blackburn a 1-0 lead.
Fontbonne had a 7-4 shot advantage the rest of the way but Blackburn netminder Hunter Vetter played spoiler stopping attempts from Jarid Morton and Joseph Huster to keep it a one goal lead for Blackburn at the break.
In the second half, the Griffins had a couple of scoring chances early, but Brandon Baumgartner's attempt was stopped by Vetter in the 52nd minute.
The Griffins had one final push in them and had a great scoring chance in the 89th minute but Ian Steinkamp's shot went off the crossbar and Blackburn was able to fend off Fontbonne for the 1-0 victory.
