Women's volleyball routs Westminster and St. Mary-of-the-Woods

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team swept a pair of matches on Saturday at H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers rolled to 3-0 wins over Westminster and St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

The day started for Greenville with a convincing 25-15, 25-15, 25-21 win over Westminster that lasted 72 minutes.

The Panthers offered an attack that produced 38 kills and 16 errors over 111 attempts to end with a hitting percentage just shy of .200. Conversely, Westminster hit at a rate of negative .044.

Abby Freeman continued to lead Greenville's attack with 14 kills. Emily Stahl provided nine kills, and Maci Bonacorsi established a career high with eight kills in the match. Freeman also added a pair of service aces.

The Greenville offense was directed by Abby Quirin who had 36 assists.

Allyson Grabowski was all over the court defensively with 23 digs.

Match two was closer for Greenville, but they managed to capture a 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 win in 75 minutes of action.

Freeman produced 18 kills and two service aces against St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Whitney Nichols had seven kills and 10 digs in the match, and Jordan Lempa added three service aces.

Grabowski tallied 18 digs, and Anna Finch picked up a solo block and three block assists.

The Panthers (16-9, 11-2 SLIAC) kept pace with Webster for first place in the conference standings as they race toward the end of the season. They return to action on Wednesday afternoon at Spalding in a SLIAC match beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
