LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska Wesleyan shut out Westminster 2-0 to complete the Blue Jay opening road trip.

Westminster moves to 1-1 on the year. 

"Playing back-to-back games was challenging for us and our fatigue showed," said Westminster Head Coach Wendy Sanchez. "Credit to Nebraska Wesleyan for their effort on the field today." 

The Praire Wolves scored early in the game, landing a header in the 10th minute to go up 1-0. 

The Blue Jays held off Nebraska Wesleyan for the rest of the half to enter the locker rooms after 45 minutes down by a goal. 

In the 49th minute, the Prairie Wolves scored their second goal of the game to go up 2-0, and Westminster was unable to overcome the deficit.

The Blue Jays tallied all three of their shots in the second half, which included two from Gracie Koonce. 

"Having Gracie and Natalie (Schulte) to guide our younger players helps our team so much," said Sanchez. "Their communication and support has helped the team tremendously." 

Westminster travels to University of the Ozarks Sept. 8. 

"We played two tough teams this weekend but were able to see two different styles of play," said Sanchez. It's a learning experience for all of us and we are figuring out what is going to make us successful."
