FULTON, Mo. - Westminster women's basketball drops a game 68-53 against SLIAC opponent Greenville. 

Westminster falls to 7-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play. 

The Blue Jays got off to a slow start after the Panthers opened the game on a 9-0 run. It wasn't until the 4:53 mark of the first quarter when Kelsey Ray sank two freethrows. Six of Westminster's eight points in the first quarter came from the freethrow line. 

"Kelsey and Savannah Hanning looked to attack and get to the freethrow line," said Westminster Head Coach Tracey Braden.

Westminster was outscored 22-11 in the second quarter to go into the half down 38-19. 

The Blue Jays came out stron in the second half, opening on an 10-2 run on back-to-back three-pointers from Andrea Zalis. 

"We made a great effort to compete in the second half, but we can't afford to compete for only one half," said Braden. "We executed better on the offensive end."

Westminster pulled back within 12 points on a layup from Mirrakohl Johnson to open the fourth quarter, but the Blue Jays couldn't make up the deficit.

Zalis tallied a team-high 16 points and added eight rebounds. Ray added 10 points, while Hanning and Mikalyn Callahan recorded eight apiece.

"If we learn to put two halves together, we will be in every game," said Westminster Head Coach Tracey Braden.

Westminster continues conference play Saturday at Webster. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
