Red Devils Come Up Short Twice Saturday

EUREKA, Ill. -- The Eureka College volleyball team hosted a pair of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference powers Saturday at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena, falling short in a 22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 26-24, 15-9 decision to Westminster, then dropping a 25-14, 25-15, 27-25 match to Greenville later in the afternoon.

Anna Crank (Washburn, Ill./Midland H.S./Clarke) had a team-high 19 kills in the five-gamer against the Blue Jays. She added 13 digs for a double-double. Heather Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) tallied 23 assists and McKenna Cleer (Havana, Ill./Havana H.S.) had 16 digs, one of four Red Devils to reach double figures. Caitlin Miller (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) had one solo block and assisted on nine more, anchoring a team effort that collected 15 blocks. Sara Worrell (Jacksonville, Ill./Routt Catholic H.S.) also collected a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs.

In the nightcap against Greenville, Robinson led the way with eight kills. Crank added eight. Robinson and Worrell combined for 30 assists, while Worrell and Cleer shared the team lead with 13 digs apiece.

Eureka will host non-conference rival Robert Morris-Springfield Monday at 7 p.m. at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena.
