Women's Volleyball Sweeps Past Principia But Falls In Finale Against Westminster
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s volleyball team hosted its Tri-Match today and the Griffins opened with a sweep of Principia. In the finale, though the Griffins fell in straight sets in a battle against Westminster.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team hosted its Tri-Match today and the Griffins opened with a sweep of Principia. In the finale, though the Griffins fell in straight sets in a battle against Westminster.

The Basics
Set 1: After Principia tied it 5-5, the Griffins dominated the rest of the set closing out on a 20-3 run for the 25-8 victory. Fontbonne played its best set in the morning with a match-high 14 kills and .333 hitting percentage.
Set 2: In the second set, the Griffins led 15-9 after three consecutive Panthers attack errors. They expanded its lead out to 20-14 on Hannah Gallagher's kill and despite Principia trimming the advantage to 22-19, the Griffins closed out on a 3-0 run with Ella Werner-Click's service ace giving them the 25-19 victory.
Set 3: After Fontbonne trailed 8-5, the Griffins rattled off an 8-1 run capped off by Lexi Moore's kill for the 13-9 lead. Despite the Panthers narrowing Fontbonne's lead down to 21-19 later in the set, the Griffins fended off Principia for the 25-19 match win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- The Griffins finished with 34 kills and a .156 hitting percentage.
- Lizzy Harvey and Kristen Kaempfe led with seven kills. Harvey added a career-high .750 hitting percentage.
- Hannah Gallagher finished with six kills.
- Ella Werner-Click handed out 30 assists.
- Emma Pramik led the team defensively with eight digs.

The Basics
Set 1: The Blue Jays took a 10-4 lead on a kill from Emma Geier. Fontbonne gathered themselves and trailed 12-11 on Jordan Harpel's kill.
Westminster responded going a 5-2 run leading 18-13 on a solo block from Claire Whitehouse. Later, the Blue Jays were on top 21-15, but Fontbonne kept battling going on a 5-0 run with an Ella Werner-Click service ace putting the Griffins down 21-20.
However, the Blue Jays closed out the set on a 4-2 run as Geier capped the set off for Westminster for the 25-22 win.
Set 2: In the second set, the Blue Jays once again started fast with an 11-7 lead on Gretchen Durbala's kill. Westminster totaled 10 kills and just one error on 22 swings for a .409 hitting percentage in the set and despite Fontbonne having a team-high 13 kills the Blue Jays were able to go on for the 25-18 win.
Set 3: In the third, the two teams met-up at 15-15 on a couple Blue Jays attack errors. Westminster expanded its lead to 20-16 on a double block from Whitehouse and Eryka Wanyonyi which forced the Griffins staff to take a timeout.
Out of the break, the Griffins tied it at 23-23 and went on to lead 24-23 on Kaempfe's kill. After a kill from Haley Menke and a double block from Kaempfe and Harpel, the score was all tied up 25-25. However, the Blue Jays got a kill from Wanyonyi and from there collected the final point for the 27-25 match win.

- Fontbonne finished with 36 kills and a .126 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, the team came away with 12 block assists.
- Jadyn Fitzgerald led with 13 kills and a .278 hitting percentage.
- Kaempfe and Hannah Gallagher contributed eight kills each.
- Ella Werner-Click finished with 31 assists, three service aces, and seven digs.
- Emma Pramik finished with a team-high 14 digs.
- Harpel tied her season-high with five block assists, while Kaempfe added four.
