Men's soccer scores twice, falls to Westminster

FULTON, Mo. -- The men's soccer team traveled to Westminster on Thursday and were defeated 5-2 in SLIAC action.

Westminster, who was favored to win the SLIAC regular season championship, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the the first 40 minutes of the game.

Greenville tightened the match to 3-1 before the end of the first half on a goal from Christian Gomez.  His goal was his first of the season.

In the second half, the Panthers were first to reach the scoreboard after Caleb Mulholland made the score 3-2 with his second goal of the year.

The Blue Jays later tacked on two goals to give themselves breathing room.'

Greenville goalkeeper Nick Holland worked 76 minutes and permitted four goals while collecting five saves.  Jesus Hernandez stepped in and tallied one save while permitting one goal.

The Panthers (6-6, 1-1 SLIAC) go to Principia for a match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
