GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team nearly eliminated a late three run deficit as they left the tying run on third base to end the game in their attempt to sweep the season series from Blackburn.  The Panthers gained a 6-0 win in the first game and lost game two 9-8.

Adam Lamb twirled a seven inning six-hitter as Greenville shut out Blackburn in game one.

The Panthers recorded four runs in the second when a bases loaded single by Bryce Pearce and error on the play allowed all three runners to score.  Pearce later scored on Travis Ralls' RBI single.

The Panthers got two runs in the fourth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Mike Hardin and Shane Olmsted.

Greenville led early in game two as Hardin hit a three run homer to give the Panthers a first inning 3-0 lead.

Blackburn came back with four runs in the top of the second and added another run in the top of the third.

Ralls hit a two run homer in the bottom of the third to tie the game.

Blackburn added three runs in the top of the seventh and one in the top of ninth.

Greenville got single runs in their last three innings at bat.

Phillip Reedy started game two on the mound and went six innings in the no-decision.

Logan Murphy was handed the loss with three runs allowed in just one-third of an inning.

The Panthers (13-12, 5-4 SLIAC) host Robert Morris Springfield in a doubleheader on Friday at 6 p.m.
