ELSAH, Ill.—Behind Brandon Baumgartner's overtime winner, the Fontbonne University men's soccer team earned a come-from-behind 4-3 (OT) win over Principia.
Game Breakdown
It didn't take long for the Griffins to get on the board with Tanner Harris crossing a pass over for Zack Lyeki and he buried his first goal on the year to give Fontbonne a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute.
In the 42nd minute, the Griffins were awarded a penalty kick and they extended its advantage out to 2-0 on Joe Noah's goal. However, a short time later the Panthers were awarded a penalty kick as well prior to the half ending and they got on the board on E.G. Pierce's goal making it a 2-1 game at the break.
It remained a one goal lead for Fontbonne up until the 80th minute when Walter Lazo scored the equalizer. Then, in the 82nd minute, the Panthers grabbed a 3-2 lead on Patrick Sherman's goal.
Fontbonne continued to battle as the clock continued to tick away and its efforts paid off with Tanner Harris scoring in the 89th minute from the top of the box, his second on the season, to force overtime.
In overtime, the Griffins took a free kick and a loose ball in the box found Baumgarnter. The St. Peters, Mo., native, was able to bury his shot past Principia goalie Jacob Ellis on his left side for the 4-3 (OT) winner.

- The Griffins finished with 10 shots.
- Harris' goal was his second on the season, while Zack Lyeki, Noah, and Baumgarnter's goals were its first.
- TJ Balducci made the start in net and made a season-high eight saves.
