Game Breakdown
The Griffins dominated the pace of play in the first half with a 15-4 shot advantage but were unable to break the scoreless tie after 45:00 minutes of action.
In the second half, the Griffins broke the game wide open. The scoring frenzy started in the 51st minute when Alex Wigge got the ball on the left side of the box and beat Eureka goalie Isaac Hughes to the far post for his first collegiate goal.
The team extended its lead out to 2-0 in the 57th minute when Trent Calvert's pass into the box found Andrew Kneale. The sophomore forward first shot was saved by Hughes, but Kneale was right there to bury the rebound inside the six for his first on the year.
In the 68th minute, Brandon Baumgartner scored his second on the year corralling the ball outside the 18-yard box and his bouncing shot got past Hughes making it a 3-0 game.
One minute later, Ian Steinkamp won a loose ball battle and ripped his shot off the hands of Hughes and into the back of the net to extend the advantage out to 4-0.
From there, the Griffins went on to score three more times with Kaleb Wilson scoring on a rebound in the 75th minute, while Trent Calvert scored twice in a seven-minute span securing the 7-1 win.
