Baseball wins fourth straight with 11-5 victory

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The baseball team extended their winning streak to four games with a 11-5 win over Plattsburgh State on Tuesday.

The Panthers fell behind after Plattsburgh scored three times in the bottom of the first, but Greenville got those runs back and added two extra with a five run second inning.

In Greenville's half of the second, Austin Marsh and Bryce Pearce produced RBI singles, and Marsh scored when Danny Strohm reached on an error by the pitcher.  Andrew Torbeck later followed with a two run single.

In the fifth inning, Greenville added four runs.  Shane Olmsted gave Greenville an RBI single, Marsh provided a sacrifice fly, and Strohm chipped in a two run double.

The Panthers built their lead in the eighth inning with two runs when Klaiton Wolff drove in a run with a fielder's choice, and a second run scored on the second baseman's error.

Adam Lamb pitched eight innings for Greenville in gaining his first win in three decisions.  He allowed three runs, one earned, on seven hits.  Pearce permitted two unearned runs in the bottom of the ninth.

The Panthers (6-5) face Trine in a doubleheader on Thursday in Lake Sumter, Fla.
