ST. LOUIS - Westminster baseball splits a doubleheader with Fontbonne, taking game one 14-10. 

The Blue Jays are now 12-7 overall and 7-4 in the SLIAC, maintaining second place in their division. 

Alex Dickneite took the mound in game one to earn the win, improving to 4-2 on the year. He pitched for six innings, giving up four runs on nine hits. 

The Blue Jays got out to a quick start, scoring six runs in the first three innings, thanks to two singles from Will Stonecipher with the bases loaded, earning four RBI. 

Seven more runs in the last two innings put the Westminster total up to 14. The Griffins made a run in the seventh, adding six runs, but Tanner Branneky entered the game to earn the final three outs. 

Stonecipher led the team in game one with two hits and five RBI, followed by Ryan Gvillo with three hits and three RBI, and a two-run home run from Branneky. 

In game two, Sam Huesgen took the mound, pitching five innings. He was relieved in the sixth by Hayden Wallace, who received the decision with his first loss on the year. 

Neither team got on the board until the third inning, when Blake Strebler knocked in an RBI single to score two runs. 

The Griffins answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but Westminster again came back with two more run with a single from Adam Mundle. 

Fontbonne scored three in the bottom of the inning to make the score 6-4. In the top of the fifth, Westminster again came through with two runs on RBI from Gvillo and Stonecipher. 

Fontbonne came through in the last three innings to score four runs, making the final score 10-6. 

The Blue Jays resume the series with Fontbonne Saturday at home. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
