Blue Jays Topped By Principia

The Westminster men's tennis team was swept by Principia College in their second conference match of the season. The 9-0 loss brings the Blue Jays to 0-2 in conference play and 1-8 overall.

The Blue Jays left doubles competition with three close loses. In the 1st spot, senior Nate Connell and freshman Peter Hasenmueller fell 8-6. Junior Kyle Collins and sophomore Scott Strough dropped in the 2nd spot, 8-4. In the 3rd spot, freshman Adam Fuchs and sophomore Grant Peterson took the match into a tiebreaker but were unable to pull out the win. They lost 9-8 (5). 

In singles competition, Principia swept the first four spots. In the 5th spot, Strough took Principia into a tiebreaker in the first set, but ultimately lost with the scores 7-6 (3) and 7-5. In the 6th spot, senior Kody Renner took Principia into a tiebreaker in the second set. He came out with a 6-3, 7-6 (2) loss. 

The Blue Jays turn around and host Fontbonne University on Sunday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. for their third conference match of the season.
