Men's basketball gains SLIAC win at Iowa Wesleyan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa -- The men's basketball team traveled to Iowa Wesleyan for their third SLIAC game of the season and returned as 126-112 winners over the Tigers.

Johari Dix put 24 points on the scoreboard to lead Greenville as he made 5-of-14 field goal attempts, including 4-of-8 three pointers, and perfect 10-of-10 mark at the free throw line.

Marvin Bateman added 19 points for the Panthers, and Swade Edwards had 18 points.

Greenville held a commanding 75-48 lead at halftime, but they allowed Iowa Wesleyan to tighten their deficit to seven points with just over two minutes remaining in the second half.

The Panthers controlled the boards, collecting 33 offensive and 32 defensive rebounds to finish with 65.  Iowa Wesleyan could only muster 37 rebounds.

Ethan Leib led Greenville in rebounds with eight while adding 15 points.

On the defensive end of the court, Justin Cross blocked four shots, and Rakim Murphy had three steals.

The Panthers (4-4, 2-1 SLIAC) travel to Fontbonne for a game next Saturday at 3 p.m.
