ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's soccer team took the season series over Principia in dominating fashion winning 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Game Breakdown
The Griffins put the Panthers in a hole early when Dyllan Haggard's free kick found the head of Joseph Huster in the box and he placed it perfectly to the foot of Trent Calvert who tipped in his shot in the fourth minute for the 1-0 lead.
Calvert had another scoring chance in the eighth minute but his attempt from 25 yards out went off the far post. Fontbonne controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way with a 14-2 shot advantage in the first half.
In the second half, the Griffins struck again a minute in when Ian Steinkamp received a cross from Haggard and scored into the bottom right corner of the net giving Fontbonne a 2-0 lead.
It was all Fontbonne the rest of the way with the team holding the Panthers to three second half shots en route to the shutout victory.
