Men's tennis falls in SLIAC tournament championship

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The men's tennis team took second place in the SLIAC tournament on Saturday. Principia earned a 5-2 win over Greenville to give the Panthers the second place finish to Principia for the fourth straight season.

Principia carried a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The No. 3 team of Austin Burkhart and Gabriel Munoz won 8-2.

In singles play, No. 6 Burkhurt won 6-2, 7-5. No. 1 Nate Wieland and No. 5 Justin Tilford were going to a third set tiebreak when the match completed.

The Panthers' historic 17-3 season is not yet finished. Next week they go to Judson in Elgin, Ill. for the NCCAA North Central Regional championship match.
