Women's soccer stopped by Webster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team hosted Webster on Saturday in a match between two teams projected at the top of the SLIAC standings. The Panthers lost 3-1 to Webster, allowing one first half goal and two after the intermission.

Greenville's goal was posted by Dani Pearce with just over three minutes remaining in the match on a penalty kick. It was her 13th of the season and cut Webster's lead to 3-1.

The Panthers were outshot 27-7 in the game, and goalkeeper Marjory Coates came up with 13 saves in just over 71 minutes. Reaghan Lesh relieved Coates and had four saves in a little under 19 minutes.

Maddie Saffel led Greenville with three shots, including two on goal. Pearce had two shots, and both were on goal. Breanna Thomas also had two shots, and her shots were on goal.

The Panthers (10-5, 3-2 SLIAC) go to MacMurray on Wednesday for a match at 1 p.m.
