Volleyball goes 1-1 on first day at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Simpson volleyball team split its two matches on the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Barker Chevrolet Classic, beating MacMurray 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-15) and falling to Rose-Hulman 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-16).

Jacqueline Luth had another big day for the Storm (4-2), finishing with 23 kills and a .242 attack percentage. Alyssa Mathews finished with 49 assists and Kayla Aronow had 41 digs. 

Facing MacMurray for the second time in as many weeks, Simpson notched its second win over the Highlanders. Luth led the attack with 10 kills as the Storm hit .224 as a team. Ty Duve added eight kills while Niki Dean and Madison Endsley chipped in with seven apiece for the well-rounded attack. Mathews ran the offense to the tune of 27 assists while Aronow scooped 27 digs. Luth added 15 digs for her third double-double of the season.

Luth again led the charge against Rose-Hulman, racking up a team-high 13 kills. Endsley added seven and Mathews had 22 assists.
