Women's Soccer Falls to Spalding, Ends Regular Season In Third

The Westminster women's soccer lost a tough match to Spalding University on Senior Day, ending their season with a 7-2 third place standing in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). The 2-1 loss brings the Westminster Blue Jays to a 9-6-1 record heading into postseason play. 

Spalding took a 1-0 lead in the first half and scored their second goal just two minutes into the second half. 

In the 71st minute, sophomore Honor Kehde crossed the ball to sophomore Morgan Henry who placed the ball into the low corner on the net to score their first goal.

The Blue Jays shot off two more shots-on-goal in the remaining 29 minutes looking to tie the game, but were unable to get past the Spalding goalkeeper.

The Blue Jays outshot Spalding 11-8 and took eight shots-on-goal to Spalding's five, but Spalding was able to connect on two. 

Junior goalkeeper Ellen Woolsey (9-6-1) was credited with the loss. She posted three saves in the 2-1 loss. 

The Blue Jays will begin their postseason play in the SLIAC Semifinals on Thursday, November 5, at Spalding University. The time is TBD.
