LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University baseball team defeated Webster University, 1-0, in game one of their Saturday doubleheader. The win improves the Golden Eagles to 20-9 overall, 10-2 in conference play. The loss drops the Gorloks to 17-8 overall, 7-1 in conference play.
 
Jimi Keating (9-0) picks up the win, while Johnny Lord (2-1) is hit with the loss. Keating threw nine innings of four hit baseball, tallying 13 strikeouts en route to the complete game victory.
 
It was a pitcher's duel throughout the ballgame, as Keating and Fleming went head-to-head, throwing up zero after zero on the scoreboard, battling into extra innings. The Golden Eagles finally broke through in the bottom of the ninth as freshman outfielder Wilson singled through the left side, scoring Clay Kelly from third after Kelly was intentionally walked on base, giving the Golden Eagles the 1-0 victory.
 
The Golden Eagle Nine are back in action later this afternoon as they take on Webster University in game two of their Saturday doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:40 pm EST.
