Baseball heads to day two of SLIAC tournament

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team had their backs against the wall after losing game two of the SLIAC tournament on Friday, but they came out ready to play against Spalding in the nightcap as they forced a game with Webster on Saturday with a win.

Greenville lost the first round conference game 5-0 to Westminster before coming back for a 6-1 win over Spalding.

Against Spalding, Greenville put three runs on the scoreboard in the first inning, and that was all they needed.

Bryce Pearce dominated on the mound as he threw seven innings and only allowed one run in improving his record to 4-2.  He struck out nine.

Klaiton Wolff provide a 3-for-4 evening outing with a run scored an an RBI.

Shane Olmsted produced two hits and two RBI.

The Panhters (27-15) play Webster at 3 p.m., and they will play again at approximately 6 p.m. against Westminster if they top Webster.
