Men's soccer falls 2-1 at Rose-Hulman on opening night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The men's soccer team received a first half goal from Pablo Valverde, but the Panthers allowed two goals early in the second half to drop a 2-1 decision at Rose-Hulman on Thursday.

The Panthers posted Valverde's goal in the 23rd minute of the match with an assist from Jared McPeek, and RHIT later scored in the 54th and 61st minutes.

The hotly contested match featured a high level of physicality that resulted in 25 fouls and five cautions spread between the two teams.

First year goalkeeper Francesco Ribechini debuted for Greenville and collected seven saves in the match.

The Panthers received eight shots in the match, led by Valverde, McPeek, and Andres Garcia all with two.

The Panthers (0-1) travel to Millikin for a match on Saturday at 7 p.m.
