Women's Volleyball Tallies 3-1 Win Over Webster, Defense Notches Season-High 95 Digs
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s volleyball team picked up a massive conference win on Tuesday after coming away with the four-set victory over Webster. It was the first time since 2016 they’ve beaten Webster and the first time since 2005 they’ve won at Webster.

Set Breakdown
Set 1: In the first, the Griffins opened with a 13-7 lead on a kill from Hannah Gallagher. Webster rattled off a 7-1 run to tie it up at 14-14. Later, the Griffins led 18-16 on Jadyn Fitzgerald's kill.
Webster responded with a 3-1 run to regain the 19-18 advantage on Ali Spohr's kill. Fontbonne took the lead back after consecutive Gorlok errors. Gallagher gave Fontbonne the lead for good with a kill to make it 21-20 as the Griffins held on for the 25-23 win.
Set 2: Trailing 4-2 in the first the Griffins went on a 10-2 run capped off by Fitzgerald's service ace to lead, 12-6. The Griffins never relinquished its lead the rest of the way securing the 25-20 win on consecutive kills from Fitzgerald and Kelly Herr.
Set 3: Needing a win to keep the match going the Gorloks started the set off with a 17-12 lead after a block assist from Alexis Wolf and Julia Frey. Webster held onto its lead forcing a fourth set after the 25-18 victory.
Set 4: It was back-and-forth play throughout the fourth but Fontbonne led 17-14 on a Webster attack error. The Griffins continued to hold its marginal lead and were on top 24-21 on Gallagher's kill.
However, a 3-0 run from Webster evened it up once more but the comeback was not to be for Webster with a kill from Gallagher and an attack error by Webster securing the 26-24 set and match win.

- Fontbonne finished with 52 kills and a .152 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, the team got it done with a season-high 95 digs and tied its season-high with five total blocks.
- Webster ended the day with 51 kills and a .108 hitting percentage.

- Fitzgerald earned her fifth double-double on the year with a season-high 19 kills and tying her season-high with 14 digs, to go along with her .311 hitting percentage.
- Gallagher notched double-double number five with 14 kills and 19 digs.
- Olivia Tallo had a strong game herself with a season-high 10 kills and .129 hitting percentage.
- Ella Werner broke out for Fontbonne with her first collegiate double-double a season-high 40 assists and a game-high 22 digs.
- Emma Pramik hit a season-high of her own with 19 digs.
- Rae Andrews was the fifth Griffin in double-figures with 12 digs.
