Women's Basketball Falls Against Westminster
FULTON, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s basketball team fell 65-59 against Westminster on Wednesday to split the season series. Fontbonne falls to 13-11 overall and 8-5 in the SLIAC. Westminster goes to 15-9 and 9-4 in the SLIAC.

The Griffins had two players in double-figures led by Kourtney White with her fifth double-double on the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Haley Buscher had a strong game off the bench tying her season-high with 14 points and pulling down seven rebounds.
Ja'mise Bailey, Rylee Pickett, and Briana Beamer all finished with nine points.
In the first quarter, the Blue Jays opened with a 6-0 lead at the 7:43 mark on Aly Bullock's bucket. Over the next two minutes, the Griffins responded with a 7-0 run with Rylee Pickett's layup giving Fontbonne the one-point lead.
Later, the Griffins led 12-10 at the 4:06 mark on Ja'mise Bailey's 3-pointer but the Blue Jays closed out the final minutes on a 6-0 run leading by four after one.
The Griffins went on a 4-0 run in the first minute and change in the second as Brianna Beamer's layup tied it up, 16-16.
The Blue Jays retook the advantage and stretched it out to 31-25 with 2:08 remaining on Natalie Archmbault's layup.
However, the Griffins went on 6-0 run capped off by Beamer's jumper just before the horn sounded to tie it at halftime, 31-31.
Both teams had its struggles shooting from the floor in the third at 25.0 percent, but the Griffins got a layup from Beamer with just over a minute left giving them a 41-40 lead going into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Griffins continued holding onto its lead until the Blue Jays grabbed a 56-54 lead on Shelby Kurtz's 3-pointer with 2:13 left.
One minute later, the two teams were tied at 58-58, however, the Blue Jays converted a 3-point play from Caragan Lockard.
Fontbonne got to within two (61-59) on Bailey's layup with 43.0 seconds remaining. The Blue Jays, though closed out the game going 4-of-4 from the line for the win.
The Griffins shot 35.5 percent from the floor in the game and held a 49-40 advantage on the glass.
