FULTON, Mo. - After a challenging back-and-forth, Drake Trease solidified the Blue Jay victory in the 84th minute with the lone goal of the match.

Westminster improves to 6-3 and 2-1 in the SLIAC. The Gorlocks fall to 4-7.

"This was a huge win for us tonight against a quality side in Webster," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We got off to another slow start to the match but started to find our rhythm as the first half progressed."

The Blue Jays displayed their offensive prowess, recording 13 shots in the first half to Wesbter's four. Despite the many scoring changes from Westminster, Webster's back line and goalkeeper Kyle Hertel continued to make plays to keep themselves in the match.

In one of Webster's best scoring chances, Westminster's goalkeeper Ben Chesher had a chance to match the Gorlocks effort on defense. He stopped a shot on a one-on-one matchup on a breakaway to save the game for the Blue Jays, recording his lone save of the match.

It wasn't until the 84th minute that Trease was able to connect on a pass from Kyle Collins. On the Collins cross, Trease elevated to head the ball into the back of the net and give Westminster the win and his seventh goal this season.

Trease also led the Blue Jay offense with seven shots. Westminster ended the match outshooting the Gorlocks 22-6.

"We did an excellent job in the second half with our positional defending and that led to a lot of possession and goal scoring," said Galla. "Their goalkeeper made a few great saves but we believed that a goal was going to go in and it eventually did."

Westminster remains at home for Homecoming Weekend to face Eureka Saturday at 7 p.m.
