Fontbonne Baseball Earns 10-5 Game One Win Over Eureka, Game Two Moved To Sunday

How It Happened
It was a scoreless contest up until the third when the Griffins scored four runs on three hits. Braeden Dobbs got the Griffins on the board with an RBI groundout that scored Tyler Chambliss who reached base on a double.
Matt Manint made it a 2-0 outing with an RBI single to left allowing Daniel Youngblood to score. Joey Johnson and Grant Staffen followed with RBI to extend the advantage out to 4-0.
The Red Devils got two of the runs back in the next half inning, but in the bottom of the fourth Ty Kueper made it 5-2 with an RBI single to right plating Youngblood as he was hit-by-pitch to start off the inning.
Eureka kept battling scoring one in the fifth and two more in the sixth to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth, the Griffins got the lead back with Youngblood leading off with a triple to right. Dobbs brought him home with an RBI sacrifice-fly.
The Griffins put the game away in the eighth with Dobbs leading off belting his team-high fourth homer on the season. Joey Johnson, Lane Smith, and Tyler Chambliss each recorded an RBI single to make it a 10-5 final.

- Johnson went 2-for-5 and set a new season-high with two RBI.
- Youngblood extended his hitting streak out to seven going 3-for-5 with three runs scored.

The Griffins grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first and exploded for eight runs in the second highlighted by Thomas Purschke's first career grand slam.
