Women's basketball falls to Elmhurst

DECATUR, Ill. -- The women's basketball team suffered an 86-50 loss to Elmhurst on Friday at Millikin.

Wesley Woodard was the leading scorer for the Lady Panthers with 12 points, and Claire Schmitt provided nine points and three assists.

Elmhurst outscored Greenville in every quarter as they built their 36 point margin of victory.  Greenville was outscored by one in the first quarter, and the halftime score stood at 39-31.

Elmhurst expanded their lead by 12 points in the third quarter and outdistanced Greenville by 16 points in the final quarter.

The Lady Panthers shot just over 37 percent in the contest compared to a mark higher than 47 percent for Elmhurst.  Greenville hurt themselves by committing 28 turnovers.

Laura Goodnight added six rebounds, and Meredith Crosier had two steals for the Lady Panthers.

Greenville (1-1) squares off with Millikin at 5 p.m. Saturday in Decatur.
