Baseball splits games against Augsburg

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The baseball team split a pair of games with a winning Augsburg squad on Thursday.  The Panthers dropped the first game 9-6 before exploding for a 21-14 win in game two.

First baseman Austin Marsh led the Panthers with a 3-for-4 outing in the first game.  He tripled and drove in two runs.

Greenville led 2-0 after the first inning, but Augsburg took a 3-2 lead in the second inning.

Augsburg added another run in the fourth, but the Panthers scored twice in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 4-all.

Augsburg's five run sixth inning put the game out of reach.

Adam Lamb was the losing pitcher as he hurled five innings.

Game two saw the Panther bats come to life as they scored in the first six innings of the game.

Greenville led 8-0 before Augsburg got on the scoreboard, and the Panthers increased their lead to 21-3 by the sixth inning.

Sam Hodges and Grant Carman each recorded three hits for Greenville.  Chandler Dix drove in four runs as he went 2-for-2, and Travis Ralls had three RBI on a 2-for-4 performance.

Marsh started the game on the mound and went four innings.  He allowed two runs on six hits.

Lucas Whitten got the winning pitching decision with an inning of scoreless relief.

The Panthers (3-7) face Framingham State on Friday night.
