Women's volleyball sweeps Illinois College in three sets for 19th win

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - In a tight three-set match, the women's volleyball team defeated Illinois College 26-24, 25-23, 25-23 on the road on Monday night.

Greenville received a bounce-back effort from the squad after Friday's loss, highlighted by Jasmin Smith's double-double of 15 kills and 14 digs. Smith also added three service aces.

Emily Stahl was next up on GU's list of attack leaders with 11 kills in the match.

Kaitlin Murray and Jordan Lempa split time as Greenville's setter. Murray ended with a team-high 22 assists, and Lempa added 16 assists.

GU's defensive effort was led by Chasity Hill with 15 digs and Lauren Spivey with two solo blocks and two block assists.

Greenville had 15 or more kills in every set, posting a high of 16 kills in the first and third sets. Overall, the team finished with 47 kills, 25 errors, 147 attacks, and .150 hitting percentage.

The Panthers (19-6) will have three chances to clinch the SLIAC tournament number one seed and regular season championship in matches at H.J. Long Gymnasium against Webster and Fontbonne later this week.
