ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University baseball team won its second straight game this time around in walk-off fashion as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 3-2.
It was a pitcher's duel throughout today's game, but the Griffins broke the scoreless tie first in the bottom of the fourth when Carter Lee worked a bases loaded walk bringing home Bryce McKinnon.
The Griffins held onto that lead up until the seventh when the Prairie Wolves tied it up at 1-1. In the ninth, though Nebraska Wesleyan took a 2-1 lead with Noah Unger hitting an RBI triple to right.
However, the Griffins didn't give in with Eric Creech leading off with a walk. Then, consecutive passed balls allowed Creech to move on over to third with nobody out.
Matt Helm reached on a fielder's choice and Creech scored on the play to tie the game. Ty Kueper stepped in and hit a single, but the throw got away from the first baseman allowing pinch-runner Justin Smith to race around to score for the victory.
