Red Devils Cruise at MacMurray, 103-73

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College senior guard Hayley Reneau (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) tallied a game-high 36 points, Kennedy Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) reached double figures in assists for the third time in the last 12 days and Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) hauled down a career-high 11 rebounds in the Red Devils' 103-73 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win at MacMurray, Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Ill.

Eureka's 103 points Saturday marked the first time the Red Devils reached the century mark in 12 seasons as a member of the SLIAC.

The Red Devils led from wire to wire on Saturday. Dura hit a 3 on the first possession of the afternoon and later scored inside for a 17-6 lead at the 5:33 mark of the first quarter, EC's first double-digit lead. Eureka had a 34-18 lead after the quarter and a 54-36 cushion at intermission.

The visitors' advantage reached 86-55 at the end of the third quarter. Reneau's layup with 7:57 left gave Eureka its largest lead, 94-59.

Reneau was 12-for-16 from the floor, 5-for-8 from 3 and 7-for-9 from the free throw line. Dura poured in 19 and dished out 10 assists. Harfst also logged a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Samantha Sarnes (Havana, Ill./Havana H.S.) scored 11 off the bench. Eureka hit 13 3-pointers and was credited with 28 assists.

Liz Kruemmelbein and Shelby Fink scored 15 points apiece to lead the Highlanders. Emily Kolo came off the bench to gather 11 rebounds.

Eureka will welcome in-state rival Illinois Wesleyan Monday at 7 p.m. at the Reagan Athletic Complex.
