Clean Sheet: Red Devils Blank MacMurray, 4-0

EUREKAJosh Mead (Tampico, Ill./Prophetstown H.S.) headed home a corner kick for the match-winning goal in the 16th minute and Moises Aldana (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall H.S.) made a pair of saves for his third career clean sheet in the Eureka College men's soccer team's 4-0 shutout victory over St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival MacMurray, Tuesday night at McKinzie Field.

Mead navigated through traffic in the box to finish a corner kick from Ignacio Gutierrez (Madrid, Spain/El Prado) his second career goal at 15:53. Less than four minutes later, Mikey Hernandez (Los Angeles, Calif./Metamora H.S.) collected a loose ball from 12 yards out and ripped a left-footed shot past MacMurray goalkeeper Jacob Trim for a 2-0 lead.

Eureka made it 3-0 at 25:22 when deep service on the right side from Gutierrez found a streaking Diego Cintora (Watseka, Ill./Watseka H.S.), who beat Trim to the far post for the Red Devils' third strike in a span of 9-minutes, 29-seconds.

The score remained 3-0 until Gutierrez notched his third assist of the night, a corner kick that found a leaping Kenneth Mantell (Sidney, Ill./Unity H.S.), who headed home his second collegiate goal at 83:49. Gutierrez's three assists were the first three assists of his collegiate career and equaled Eureka's single-match record for assists, tying previous marks set by Tyler Hess, Brian O'Malley (twice) and Tony Terdina.

Aldana did his part in goal, stopping both of MacMurray's shots on frame. The Highlanders were limited by Eureka's back line to just five shot attempts on the night.

Eureka will play its second match on the turf in three nights when Lincoln Christian visits Thursday for an 8 p.m. kickoff under the lights at McKinzie Field.
