Baseball Grabs a Nail-Biting Victory Over Westminster
FULTON, Mo. – The third game of the series between the Fontbonne University baseball team and Westminster College were neck and neck during all nine innings. The Griffins ended up victorious with a 17-16 win. The team improves to 19-9 overall and 7-2 in conference mark.

FULTON, Mo. – The third game of the series between the Fontbonne University baseball team and Westminster College were neck and neck during all nine innings. The Griffins ended up victorious with a 17-16 win. The team improves to 19-9 overall and 7-2 in conference mark.
On the top of the first inning, Matt Helm hit a single to the right field bringing home Ty Kueper. Colby Shivers hit a single to center field to score Matt Helm.
Westminster scored three runs on the bottom of the second innings to grab the lead of the game, 3-2.
On the top of the third, Helm hit a homer and Colby Shivers scored on a single from Kameron Brooks. On the bottom of the third, Westminster scored four more runs taking a 7-4 lead.
Brooks hit an RBI double bringing home Thomas Purschke and Helm. Shivers scored to tie the game 7-7. Carter Lee hit a 3 RBI homer to left field scoring Trey Kueper and Brooks. Eric Creech scored on an error by catch. Ty Kueper scored after Shivers hit a sac fly to increase the lead for the Griffins to 12-7.
Westminster answered with seven runs to take the lead once again, 14-12.
Ty Kueper scored on a wild pitch. Matt Helm scored and then hit a 3 RBI homer.
Westminster scored twice but was unable to comeback, 17-16.
Camden Coleman (2-2) took the victory on the mound. He pitched 1.2 inning and struck out one while allowing two runs. Ben Bisig pitched 2.1 innings. He struck out two while allowing six hits and seven runs. David Howard pitched 3.1 innings. He struck out four while allowing five hits and five runs. Vonner Panek allowed three hits and two runs. Nolan Gutjhar was credited with the save. He pitched 1.2 innings and struck out one.
