Volleyball Sweeps Eureka in Home Opener

The Blackburn Volleyball Team swept Eureka College on October 5th, in Carlinville, Illinois. The Beavers won 25-12, 25-23, 25-17, and this was their first win of the season.




Blackburn was in control of all matches as there were no lead changes in the first two sets and only one tie. The Red Devils out attacked the Beavers 109 to 104 but the Beavers hitting percentage was .144 as compared to Eurekas .046. Blackburn was also able to get 8 points via serve aces. 




Offensively, Blackburn was led by multiple players as they had four players with at least six kills. Emilie King led the way with eight kills on 18 attacks. Kyleigh Marty also added eight kills in the match. Jessica Muckensturm added eight more kills on 16 attacks hosting a .250 hitting percentage which led the team. Lucy Magnussen had six kills for the Beavers and also added three service aces. Sabrine Kelsey was credited with 21 assists to lead the team




Defensively, Autumn Wilson led the team with 21 digs followed by Kelsey who had 10 digs and 1 solo block. Emilie King had 3 digs and also led the team with 2 block solos.
